Institutional Research Groups
Regarding investigation, we have adequate research development that create knowledge according to our institutional values and vocation. The organization has two investigation groups that establish priority lines, strategic matters and objectives aligned with their complexity and vocation formally approved by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry.
GIGA Group
This group includes researchers and projects related to diagnostic and advanced treatment of diverse solid and hematological neoplasia types in adult and pediatric populations. The GIGA program looks to accelerate the results adoption process, to integrate them into our practices and procedures, for the preclinical investigation, early institutional and external to the cancer patients in Colombia. To do this, it manages and develops clinical and observational studies that allow characterize the natural story of the illness, value multiple outcomes and explore efficiency, effectiveness and security of new pharmacological agents. This includes their action mechanisms, resistance patterns and potential biomarkers appliable to the habitual clinical practices.
Additionally, GIGA includes qualitative investigation studies to scales validation, integrative studies, health’s economy, communal for the new diagnosis and imaging tests.
TERA Group
It reunites researchers focused on the studies of molecular, cellular, genetic and immunological cancer’s mechanisms in Colombian population. Added to this, it searches the identification, generation and validation of useful diagnosis improvement, prognostic characterizing and treatment stratification tools in patients with diverse neoplasia pathologies.
Andrés Felipe Cardona Zorrilla (Award for Mid-Career/Senior Investigators) for his project:
“The Oral, Fecal and Intratumoral Microbiome Atlas of Latino Patients with Solid Tumors”. A big step in understanding the relationship between cancer and the microbiome.
Felipe Canro, Fellowship Grant:
Latin America & Developing Countries in support of your project titled: Potential effect of Vortioxetine on cognitive functioning of patients with ALK-positive NSCLC treated with Lorlaitnib.
Liliana Gutiérrez Babativa (Award for Sigma Foundation Latin America/Caribbean Nursing Research Grant) for her Project:
“Evaluation of the Efficacy of Guarana in Reducing Chronic Fatigue in Cancer Patients: A Pragmatic Study”
